Academy of Fine Arts
Founded in 1764, the Academy of Fine Arts in Dresden is one of the oldest art academies in German-speaking regions. It offers students the choice of a wide variety of courses in fine arts.
Challenge
Within the context of a complete building redevelopment, along with a library extension, the Academy chose to modernise their assembly hall, converting it into a single central auditorium.
The challenge facing Haworth was to find a seating solution which satisfied the demanding requirements set by the planners while maintaining due consideration for the existing architecture. The solution also needed to combine aesthetic design with carefully planned and sophisticated functionality.
Scope
Single lecture hall.
137 fixed seats in tiers.
