Haworth's showroom in Barcelona measures 500m2 and is situated on the corner of Balmes Street and Mallorca Street. It was designed by Haworth architect, Nicole Becker and Haworth interior designer Maitena Marín, and is one of six showrooms in Spain.
It first opened in May 2009, displaying the latest offerings from Haworth's product portfolio, and demonstrating a clear example of the Organic Workspace philosophy. The design is emotive, based on the colours and shapes of sea, sand, and Barcelona's bright sunlight.
The ground floor shows examples of reception, operational desks and management solutions. Downstairs in the basement the focus is on wall partitioning, meeting areas and seating, and the upper floor is home to the Barcelona staff. This plays the role of living showroom, where Haworth members' day to day work demonstrates the advantages of Haworth's adaptable workspaces.
The three floors are connected by a spectacular hanging staircase made of glass and steel. It brings an element of the transparency of water into the space, and the foot of the staircase fuses with the bamboo floor.
