Our showroom in the Italian capital is located in a section of the ground-floor of the Palace of Sciences. The building was completed in 1943 and is situated in the centre of EUR zone (Esposizione Universale Roma / Rome Universal Exhibit) a business district initially created as a celebration of architecture.
The showroom aims to fulfil the needs of a functional office space while integrating harmoniously with the building, enhancing its architectural identity. The original architectural elements interact with the solutions, creating a unique example of design coherence through diversity. The original space was characterised by tall open spaces (7m high) and cold materials in geometric shapes. As a counterbalance to this, the showroom was designed using warm materials (wood) and transparency (glass, perforated steel) in wave patterns.
The building houses a 140m2 dealer office on the ground floor and a 170m2 Haworth sales office on the first floor opening onto the 520m2 showroom. The showroom has a 7m high ceiling, and features services shared between Haworth and the dealer, including the reception, storage and a waiting area. It also incorporates a conference area, open and closed meeting points and a special exhibition zone on raised flooring to promote displayed products.
The design of the showroom placed a special emphasis on lighting, with waves of suspended shields integrating both direct and indirect lighting.
